Cloth Diapering

We have been trying out the Gdiapers. She looks so cute in them! I put them on her last week and due to recent events we have gone back to disposables for now (more info to come in my next post). I was using the gcloth inserts that are made to go in them, but she leaked through every one. I was so frustrated. I wasn't sure if she didn't have enough chub yet to get a good seal or if I wasn't putting them on her right. My friend Anna made me cloth inserts for her medium size gpants, but they actually fit in the small sized ones as well. I decided to try them out and they worked great! We are still getting used to how to put them on her right, but for the most part everything was staying inside them atleast. Anyway, here is the little munchkin modeling her puffy bum.



Below is the cloth diapering pail that I ordered to help me clean the poo off of her diapers without splashing yuck around the bathroom. It came with everything you need to spray off the diapers and hang them to dry before throwing them in the bag of dirty diapers. The sprayer hooks up to the toilet and the water pressure is crazy. I just hang the diaper inside the pail and everything gets sprayed right off. There's a plug at the bottom of the pail that drains everything right into the toilet. It originally came with little hooks, but our cloth inserts can't really hang from hooks, so Joe swapped them out for little alligator clips that he attached to the inside. I just clip the cloth inserts right in them and spray away. I then leave it there to dry. I am going to have him add two more clips later so I can have 4 hanging in there at once, or if I want to spray off the plastic liner and leave it hang there too.


The pail definitely makes things alot easier. Cloth diapering definitely has a learning curve, so hopefully once things are settled back down again, we can start using them again full time.

A whole Shlew of Ramblings

Good Morning!

We had a pretty good weekend. Friday night we went to the Rascals Baseball game with my parents and Amy & J. My dad's work had some club seat tickets and the weather was really nice. It was fun sitting outside and visiting with everyone. Even if I didn't pay any attention to the game. And for anyone that cares, the Rascals Baseball team is a team in an independent professional league. So they are professional, but on a smaller, more local scale. For the first 1,000 people to arrive at the game, they were giving away bobbleheads. And of who? It was none other then Moses himself. I thought that was kinda wierd and out of place at a baseball game... but we still got a kick out of them nonetheless.

Saturday was mostly spent getting caught up on some things around the house. Ya know, laundry, cleaning, yard work, all that good stuff. I watched Burn After Reading before I went to bed. That was 2 wasted hours I will never get back.

Sunday we helped my youngest sister, Erin and her hubs, move out of my other sister Amy's house and into their new house. What an ordeal (mostly for them)! They had to move stuff from Springfield, MO, from Jefferson City, MO and stuff from both Amy's and my house. I couldn't believe how much stuff they had! Their new house is really cute and only 9 miles from ours which is great. I am just so happy they are not living in Springfield anymore. Not only do I get to see my sister more, but now I get to watch my nieces grow up. Yay!!

I guess I was on a Brad Pitt kick cuz I watched Benjamin Button on Sunday. Unlike the other flick I watched Saturday, I really enjoyed this one. I had been putting off watching it because I had heard from several people it was too long and not that great. But my gal Toni had rented it and was at our house on Sunday with the copy in her car, so she let us borrow it. It didn't feel too long to me at all. Everything about the movie was good in my opinion. And the make-up was really amazing. Brad Pitt really pulled it off, going through the different stages of the character's life.

As you may or may not know from reading my previous posts, we are going to be using cloth diapers. I have decided to go with gdiapers for a few different reasons that I won't get into now, but I had to share this with you. They came out with a new design this summer for little girls... just in time for our little one! Isn't this just way too cute! You better believe I'm gonna have to get a couple of these!

Acid, Butt Covers and the Weekend... Oh My!

My throat is on fire!! I have been getting acid reflux. Bad. From what I understand this is one of the most common things that pregnant woman go through, and I had read there was a good chance I would suffer from it as well. But having never experienced acid reflux or heart burn before in my life, I had no idea how awful it could be. I have been getting it since early on in my pregnancy, but the last two days have been just awful. I feel like my entire esophogas is on fire!

I am having ice cream for lunch today because it feels good and the concern for my growing ass is being outweighed by the burning acid in my throat.

The Tums I have been using so far are no longer cutting it for me. I have been reading online about all of the different medications you can take while you are pregnant. I'd really like to pick up some Pepcid AC, but with all of the differences in opinion on what is safe and what isn't, I would really like to talk to my doctor about it first. But it's Good Friday, so they have shut down their office. Arg.

I realize that alot of it has to do with diet, so I have researched that as well. But sometimes, it can get really bad, no matter what I eat.

I ordered a bed wedge online a few weeks ago and that helps alot at night. I was literally having to try to sleep sitting up. Every time I would fall deeper into sleep I would slide down into the bed and the burning sensation would wake me right back up again.

I guess I will just have to suffer through the weekend until I talk to my doctor on Monday.

I am 19 weeks today. Only 10 more days until we find out of there's a little boy or girl growing inside me. I am so excited to find out!

I have finally decided what I am going to use to cover the baby's bum once they arrive! I have been researching cloth vs. disposable diapers since I was pregnant the first time over the summer. I loved the idea of using cloth diapers for obvious reasons like the environment and a chemical-free material touching my baby's booty, but I was also worried about the convenience of them and how well they would win over my hubby and anyone that was babysitting for me. One diaper that I kept gravitating towards was the gDiaper. They almost seemed to be the best of both worlds. The cloth diaper outside could be used through several changes before being washed, while the liner on the inside was disposable. You can flush it right down the toilet or just throw it away, but no matter what you do it is reabsorbed by the planet in a neutral or beneficial way. And the diaper designes are soooo cute!

I was still undecided and was continuing my research until recently. My best bud Anrazel over at Companion to the Wind has a little baby of her own and she has recently started trying out cloth diapers on him. She bought some used ones on Craigslist that ended up not working for her. They were either not cared for properly by their previous owner, or they just weren't a good fit for some reason, but they leaked constantly. She then decided to try out gDiapers. Yay!! And so far she is really liking them. Its so nice to actually know someone else first hand that is using them with success. And Babies "R" Us sells them in their stores, so I can actually register them for my baby showers! So my mind is made up and I have finally settled on a plan. Whew! One less thing to worry about. Tonight I am headed out to visit with Anrazel and her adorable little baby boy. Her mom is in town and I haven't seen her in a while, so it will be fun to catch up. Tomorrow I am taking my niece Aubrey to a big Easter Egg Hunt! I am really excited to have some time with her away from everyone else... I think she is going to have a blast and I can't wait to post the pictures. It's been raining the past two days, so hopefully it won't be too muddy tomorrow. Sunday we are heading over to my grandparents house for lunch. My parents, my sisters and their hubbies will all be there so I am looking forward to that.
